|
|
I am in the process of creating a ship model in the game. This has been done many times by many other artists, which drove me to do it even more. One of the most notable ones is by Bacon. I wanted to do my own, but make it accurate.
So, I started this on.... January 30th. I haven't had much time to work on it, but I hope to get it done by the end of the month if I'm lucky. I'm not rushing it, because I want it to come out decent. So... I'm copying and pasting my threads from the Sanctuary on this topic.
===============================================================================
There will be no interior (Maybe some MAJOR rooms..) but it's mostly a set, for like.. movies or stories. So, you can watch the work in progress here!
I got the bow pretty much done today. I need to fix some wallpaper where the raised part of the forecastle deck curves down to the Well Deck. Most of this was done from memory, as well as using the Discovery Explorer. Reminder, this is JUST the bow. I am expecting the entire ship to take up 5 lots.
You can compare this model using this: http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/titanic/explorer/explorer.html
===============================================================================
I just started to do the Forward section that will have the following:
-Other half of Well Deck w/ Electric Cranes
-Forward B Deck Promenade and A Deck Prom.
-Bridge
-Officers Quarters
-Lifeboats
I may try to see if the Grand Staircase can fit here too, but I really doubt it. I downloaded a cool dome from Birgit, so I can't wait to use it!
Here's what I have so far. It's starting to take shape.
Note: [Under the bridge is a DUMMY Floor, as well as Under the A Deck Promenade.]
===============================================================================
getting there..
===============================================================================
Here's an update for you! The Forward part of the ship, which includes the Bridge, and the officers quarters, is FINALLY done! I just need to put Lifeboat Davits in. lol! Thank you Terry for your help! Here are some picts!
===============================================================================
This is NOT on the ship... but just a model of the staircase, as accurate as I could get it. The Dome is Birgits, and the stairs are from MTS2... artist? Not sure off the top of my head... but they worked perfectly. The wallpapers and tiles are all by me from my RMS Titanic Museum Lot.
This set has 3 levels. Boat Deck, A Deck, and B deck. I ended up sinking the set for a cool effect with water! This was a lot of fun to make.. but as I said, it's not on the ship.. and considering the loading time for slower machines, it won't be. I will be doing interior sets.
So, I asked Khakido for windows for the grand staircase. The real windows should look like this:
So, hopefully she comes through for me on the real ship model.
I don't even want to try to recolor the dome, and put the glass and iron design on that. just finding the patterns would be difficult, therefore I would have to do it by hand.
I created 2 wallpapers by hand for the Palm Court/Verandah Cafe.. which is yet to come on the whole ship model (it's located Aft) but, I may do an interior set of it. Here are the papers I created by Hand:
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2794/titanicpalmcourt2wy4.png
http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/4657/titanicpalmcourt1kq5.png
I'm happy with the way they came out. They were hard to do. I did it on my sisters lap top with the finger Pad... ugh! lol
A Deck Landing:
Boat Deck, with Dome
Another Shot:
A Deck Flooded, B Deck entirely under
Inside Dome, looking down.
A Deck Flooded
Furni
B Deck, before the whole set was flooded with actual water.
Again.. before actually flooded.
LOL here is the mess all this is in.
===============================================================================
I started the Middle Section today. It's nothing much yet.
I can't wait for my grand staircase windows! Khaki said she will make them for me!
===============================================================================
Update:
Okay, no pictures.. but some writing. LOL! I'm in the game now. i decided to scrap the Middle Section and start over. It just wasn't meeting what I wanted it to be. When it come to Titanic.. everything just needs to be right Anyways... I DID include 2 levels of the Grand Staircase. Because the ship is an odd number of tiles wide, that means that the stairs cannot have the center banister/railing/whatever you want to call it. It also can't have the elevators which would be located behind the stairs... but that is where the lot cuts off. I will make a final model of it later. Which, okay.. that's fine. It looks okay.... So fine... whatever........ 1 sec let me take a pic.............. lol
Okay... so here is the mini staircase. I decided to include it because if you ARE filiming on the ship... you will be able to see through the windows, and when a door opens. SO... It just has to be there.
I also worked on the A deck Promenade. The Middle section is the place where the Open part of the promenade starts, so that's why i have the half wall. I scrapped the first version of this lot because I ran into a problem with that, in terms of wall count.
Now....... I ran into another problem, but found a solution.
Here is a shot of the problem. See if you can figure out what it is..
Yes!! An ugly bulky white unattractive wall that takes away from showing the "length" of the "ship. Solution?
Mirrors! okay, so it's cheating... but it does give the illusion that the ship is long. Of course, it will take away from the accuracy factor, and if you have actors being filmed on that floor, you will have a problem with them being reflected in the mirror... my suggested solution to that is to just green/blue screen them in later.
So... Not quite finished, obviously. I thought this shot was cool. It's the new section, but in the back you can see the forward part and the old middle.
Anyways, thanks, and I'll keep updating you!

Well.... here is the entire thing in hood view. The Aft Section (before the stern) is not quite done yet. I plan on working on the a bit tomorrow. The Middle section just need windows on the Hull. here are some pictures:
I made the Lifeboats smaller, because they were just ugly and bulky:
Here is the stern under construction... it was a NIGHTMARE doing the fan tail:

Danny it really is such a masterpiece! This was a huge undertaking and it was well worth your pain, I think. The scale looks very accurate - it is hard to believe all you have done on even our largest lot! Just can't say enough about how much I like it
Plus you are such a good blogger |

Well first of all, don't come in here and talk to me like that again please- I don't know who you are or who you think you're talking to, two, I'll take my sweet time. Thanks. And Three, I am not rushing to upload it so I can insure that the model is as accurate and detailed as possible. _________________ =====*DANNY *=====

How rude of this "person"! Danny, I am so sorry that whoever this "person" is (and I am using this term very loosely!) found it necessary to behave toward you in such a manner. I think it's quite obvious that he/she is extremely jealous of your talents, thus this rude post. Like Nanette, I also feel your reply to this is well said; you've shown more this "person" more respect than he/she has shown you. This says a lot about you as a person, but then I already know that you have the character to rise above petty stuff like this.
So, take all the time you need -- greatness can't be rushed! |
